Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
- We collect what's needed to run a shared meal plan and chore list, and nothing for advertising.
- Everything in a household is visible to everyone in that household.
- If you use the assistant, your request and some household details are sent to Anthropic to generate suggestions.
- We count which features get used, anonymously, to improve Upkeep. You can turn this off in Settings.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- You can delete your account and data at any time in Settings.
This policy explains how Ample Software ("we", "us") handles information in the Upkeep app for iPhone and iPad and on this website. Questions? Email support@amplesftwr.com.
Information we collect
Your account
- Sign in with Apple identifier. A unique ID from Apple that lets you sign in. We don't ask Apple for your email address.
- Your name. Your first name, if you share it with Apple when signing in or type it in Upkeep. Other household members see it.
What you add to your household
- Household name, member names and the household's invite code.
- Meals and their dishes, recipe links, favorites and who's cooking.
- Rooms, chores, schedules, who they're assigned to, presets, and a history of who completed what and when.
- Food allergies, foods to avoid and food notes, if you add them. These may reveal health information, so only add what you're comfortable sharing with your household and, if you use it, the assistant.
Purchases
- If you buy Upkeep Premium, Apple handles the payment. We never see your card or billing details. We receive purchase records from Apple through RevenueCat: which plan you bought, when it renews or ends, and whether it's active, linked to your Upkeep account ID.
- Other household members can see that the household has Premium and who in the household subscribed.
Device information
- A push notification token, so we can tell your other devices when a chore is completed and keep reminders up to date.
- Reminders are scheduled on your device. Widgets and Siri read a copy of your data stored on your device.
Usage data
- Upkeep uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how features are used, for example that a meal was planned or a chore was marked done, and the type of device and app version. These events never include your meals, chores, names or anything you type.
- Analytics uses a random ID for the app on your device. We don't connect it to your account, and it isn't used for advertising.
- You can turn this off in Settings → Share Usage Data, which also resets that ID.
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifier or browsing activity.
How we use it
- To run Upkeep: sync your household between devices, show your plan and chores, and send reminders.
- To answer assistant requests (see below).
- To unlock Premium for your household and check whether it's still active.
- To respond when you contact support.
- To keep the service secure and working, for example to investigate errors.
- To understand which features are used, so we can improve Upkeep.
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it.
The assistant
The assistant is optional. When you send it a message, our server sends that message, the earlier messages in that conversation and a summary of your household to Anthropic, which provides the AI model (Claude) that writes the reply. The summary includes member first names, rooms and chores, meals from the last 45 days and those planned ahead, and your allergies, foods to avoid and food notes, so suggestions fit your household.
Anthropic processes this data to provide the service to us. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API isn't used to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy. Assistant conversations aren't saved to your household; they stay in the app until you start a new chat or close it.
The assistant's suggestions can be wrong. Always check ingredients yourself, especially for allergies.
Who we share it with
- Your household. Everything in a household is shared with all of its members. Anyone with your invite code can join, so share it only with people you trust.
- Service providers that run parts of Upkeep for us, under contracts that limit their use of the data:
Provider What for Google (Firebase) Sign-in, database storage, server functions, push notifications and usage analytics Apple Sign in with Apple, push notification delivery, app distribution Anthropic Generating assistant replies, only when you use the assistant RevenueCat Managing Premium purchases and subscription status - Legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others.
- Business transfers. If Upkeep is sold or merged, under a policy at least as protective as this one.
Where it's stored
Data is stored by Google Firebase in the United States. If you use Upkeep from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. Completion history from the last year is shown in the app.
Deleting your account
In Upkeep, go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and sign-in, and removes your device's push token. We also ask Apple to revoke Upkeep's access to your Apple ID.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Premium subscription, because Apple bills it to your Apple ID. Cancel it in the App Store under Subscriptions. Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records as required for billing and tax.
- If you're the only member of your household, the household and everything in it is deleted.
- If others remain, you're removed from the household and your name is deleted. Chores and meals assigned to you become unassigned. Meals, chores and history you added stay with the household for the remaining members, without your name.
You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing support@amplesftwr.com.
Your choices and rights
- See and change your information in the app at any time.
- Turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
- Stop sharing usage data in Settings → Share Usage Data.
- Not use the assistant. It only runs when you send it a message.
- Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, or to object to some processing. Email us to make a request. We'll respond within the time the law requires and won't treat you differently for asking.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to members of each household by our database security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Upkeep is meant for households run by adults and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app or on this website before they take effect.
